The Edges of Visibility

The artistic principle of blurry, out-of-focus images has entered the art of painting, photography and videos. This creates a remarkable change of dress: photography is reminiscent of painting, painting makes use of photographic templates, photography and painting both suggest cinematic movement. Yet blur should be recognised as a serious expression of precise, "sharp" vision. It concerns the process of perception, the question of reality.
